What is the placebo effect?

The placebo effect is when something does not actually have an actual therapeutic effect, but the mind believes it does, then it does work. A common example is when people are given sugar pills which do not actually benefit the body in anyway, but the person is told that they are given pills that actually have effects, like getting rid of migraines. The person will take the pill, and they get better because the mind thinks it has an effect, while in reality it doesn't.
