Am I pregnant? I skipped the placebo pills, my period is late but the pregnancy test is negative.?

Last month I skipped my placebo pills and went straight to my next pack of active pills. I have forgotten to take the pill at the same time everyday and have had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. My period is now a week late. I just took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. My period still hasn't arrived and I am usually very regular, could I be pregnant and have gotten a false negative on the pregnancy test?
