Skipped period on birth control?

I am on Loestrin 24. Last month I skipped my period intentionally when my boyfriend was visiting. I never missed a pill but I was late a couple of times and just took them the next day. This type of birth control only has 4 placebo pills instead of 7. I made it through my placebo pills with a little bit of cramps and spotting some mucusy brown discharge. I thought I may be pregnant but I took a test and it came out negative. Should I be okay?
