Anyone out there know rifle scopes?? I need help!! :) Thanks?

So with fathers day comming up I wanted to get my dad somthing special... Hes been talking for a long time about getting a leupold scope. Well I have decided that Im going to buy him one. I hunt, But I know nothing about scopes. Guns are more my thing. So I was wondering if anyone out there knows anything bout the Leupold M8-4X Extender Rifle Scope? Is it somthing that is worth the money? And do you think it would be somthing my dad would like if hes looking for a leupold scope? If you could help that would be great. Thanks :)
